SIS is working to assist the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with addressing pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancers, in support of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden’s Cancer Moon Shot that is mobilizing a national effort to end cancer as we know it. This critical initiative aims to prevent more than 4 million cancer deaths by 2047 and improve the experience of people who are touched by cancer. Accurate, accessible, and timely data is needed to guide treatment for persons of all ages who are living with cancer and SIS is in the process of refining a national cancer registry that we developed to accomplish this goal.

Tracking overdoses and providing timely data to state and local public health officials helps to inform both prevention and treatment efforts. Since 2019, SIS has been providing data management and database support services to CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), Division of Overdose Prevention (DOP) to assist with the collection, analysis, and distribution of timely drug overdose and death data.
