Projects for HRSA
Supporting HRSA to Address Healthcare Worker Shortages in the DRC
To address the severe and chronic shortage of qualified healthcare workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), SIS assisted HRSA with the ICAP Resilient and Responsive Health Systems Initiative that provided technical assistance to the DRC Nursing Council (NC). This included the development of a DRC nursing education schools database, training national and provincial NC members on the database and operating systems, redesign of the NC website, facilitating information exchange among other nursing organizations in the region, promoting professional development, and working with key stakeholders to strengthen the Nursing Now Group.
Improving Healthcare in Côte d'Ivoire: HRSA I-TECH
SIS also assisted HRSA with its I-TECH (International Training and Education Center for Health) project to strengthen and improve the quality of nursing and midwifery care throughout Côte d'Ivoire through student internships in healthcare facilities that were negotiated in collaboration with INFAS (Institute for the Training of Health Workers).
SIS conducted SWOT analyses and needs assessments in the healthcare facilities and identified training and equipment needs to improve the quality of nursing and midwifery internships. SIS also delivered trainings to health professionals on how to plan and deliver successful internship experiences to students.
