Supporting the Department of Defense/US Army Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR)
For the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), SIS supported the training of US Department of Defense (DoD) physicians at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital in Ghana. This involved the purchasing and repackaging of medications into individual unit dosages and ensuring storage and transit medication cold chain requirements by the drug manufacturers. Medications were delivered to the USAMRAA (US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity) at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital. SIS teamed successfully with a local vendor in Accra for delivery of the medications. Approval of the medications by the Ghana Food and Drugs board was obtained and training was provided to support ISO, WHO, FDA, ASTM and Global G.A.P. standards to build capacity.
